Chamber pots and privies were provided at convenient locations, but many gentlemen still used the chimney or a convenient corner as a urinal.  The ladies who came with Catherine of Aragon from Spain remarked upon this fact, complaining that they could scarcely walk down the corridor of an English palace without coming upon such a scene.
